So what do we do until we have cheap at home tests (they are coming, but certification takes time)?

When you think you’re at risk (because, for example, the Corona App tells you), try to get a test but don’t wait for the result. Act as if you are infected and in your infectious stage. Isolate for 5 days. Simple, IMHO.

It means that if you get tested on symptom onset and wait for 3 days to receive the result, your infectious stage is more or less over when you get it.

Given incubation time and new research indicating that you might not be infectious for more than 5-7 days, it really becomes a waste of resources to wait for more than 24 hours on a PCR test result.

So is having a big discussion about inviting 400 children from . In Germany per year 778000 children are born. So 89 per hour. We’re fighting about the equivalent of children born here in 4.5 hours. Ridiculous.

4.5 Stunden.

400 Kinder aufnehmen entspricht übrigens der Anzahl Geburten in Deutschland in 4.5 Stunden.

(778000 Geburten pro Jahr, also 2131 am Tag, somit 89 pro Stunde)

For hours media in Germany claimed a US tourist was responsible for 50+ infections in Garmisch. Turns out she wasn’t American and also no tourist. The article has been updated. sueddeutsche.de/bayern/coronav

Plot twist. Turns out the superspreader was neither American nor tourist.

I took the bus and metro yesterday here in to pick up my new glasses. Everybody* was wearing a mask in the correct way. That makes me happy. 😷

Picked up my new glasses (2 for the price of 1! Multi focal as I’m not getting younger!) and decided to finally get my hair cut. Now I feel better :)

FTR - has *raised* the number of cars significantly over the past ten years. From 509 to 569 cars per 1000 citizens. That’s 12% more. Sorry to burst your bubble, when you thought Germans care about the environment by reducing cars. Le sigh. destatis.de/DE/Presse/Pressemi
