Obligatory screenshot of my new #OpenBSD setup. I've configured CWM because StumpWM doesn't do well with multiple monitors. I usually prefer StumpWM on OpenBSD. This makes computing fun again.

This computer, like this user, never sleeps.

I got tired of using Debian on my desktop. Frequent crashes and outdated software. So I installed #OpenBSD on a separate SSD and everything works. My only compromise is I need to use DRM-free media. I still use Debian for video games for the same reasons that a Linux user would keep Windows 10 years ago. But for schoolwork OpenBSD works perfectly fine, and I have plenty of music files and downloaded series. I had a few issues with my USB microphone and webcam but I fixed that easily.

I don’t know why I haven’t done this sooner, I’ve always imagined myself using FreeBSD on the desktop before OpenBSD because of the nostalgia, but the lack of 802.11ac support is problematic.

I've just launched the version of my blog with a BSD-based theme. The main colors are inspired by the BSDs, and badges will appear if a post includes one (or more) BSD in its categories. I've applied a few fixes (there are more to come), but it's already fully usable.
The site is designed to be navigable even without images or JavaScript, and can be used with text-based browsers. The only feature that requires JavaScript is the search function, which runs locally in the user's browser for maximum security and privacy.

For those who have already visited the site in recent days, you might not see the new theme correctly as some CSS parts could still be cached in your browser. I’ve set long expiration times for the CSS, so browsers may not notice the changes right away.

23 new VMs were added and 58 VMs were renewed.

We donated €1100 to the #OpenBSD Foundation, €49850 since we started.

Thank you, our users, and OpenBSD developers for an awesome OS!

Stay safe & healthy!

@stefano @justine @NebulaTide If you have a VLAN compatible switch, you can get away with a single port compute device and run either Open or Free on it with PF.

Try and find the lowest wattage, compatible device to build a router from. Personally I just use OpenBSD in a bhyve VM to do my gateway/VPN/DNS/DHCP duties.

I should get a Raspberry Pi or a Radxa device and do a router how-to, complete with the #IPv6 trimmings #BSD #FreeBSD #OpenBSD
