Why is every second German startup still being named after Zalando? It’s 2025 already, not 2012.

I’m pretty sure that if I dig in the company register, I’d find at least a hundred registered companies, whose names end in either “…ondo”, or “…ando,” or “…endo.”

It was fashionable to do so after the monstrous success of Zalando in the early 2010s, but it’s been 15 years already. This ship has sailed. Fresh brand creativity is badly in need here.

If it can happen to them, it can happen to anyone.

Has everyone noticed?
Here in #Germany almost all #supermarkets use #epaper displays to show prices. They look great. It's hard to notice that it's not ink on dead trees.
That's thousands of displays per shop. Times thousands of shops in the entire country.

Some of those displays break or otherwise get replaced.

So there must be piles of used displays around the country... but where?
Does any of my fellow #hackers know how to get some of that #trash treasure?

It is nice to see that a growing number of people are becoming aware of Arte TV for the first time.

(original post here: social.vivaldi.net/@ueeu/11415)

We told you that the service is free, but this is only partially accurate.

It is a public service broadcaster funded by French and German taxpayers. 💸

The source of payment differs between France and Germany.

In France, people used to pay around €140 per year to finance public broadcasters. This tax was abolished in 2022, and the funding of public broadcasters comes from VAT now, an indirect tax that applies to most goods and services.

In Germany, a flat rate of €18.36 per month is paid by each household, ensuring that the entire population contributes to the funding of public broadcasters like Arte.

Some programmes are translated into other European languages, with funding support from the European Union (English, Spanish, Polish, and Italian).

For more detailed information on the funding mechanisms, see the following link: arte.tv/sites/corporate/en/fun

Thanks to the French 🇫🇷 and German 🇩🇪 taxpayers! 😀 Danke, merci !
