It is nice to see that a growing number of people are becoming aware of Arte TV for the first time.

We told you that the service is free, but this is only partially accurate.
It is a public service broadcaster funded by French and German taxpayers.
The source of payment differs between France and Germany.
In France, people used to pay around €140 per year to finance public broadcasters. This tax was abolished in 2022, and the funding of public broadcasters comes from VAT now, an indirect tax that applies to most goods and services.
In Germany, a flat rate of €18.36 per month is paid by each household, ensuring that the entire population contributes to the funding of public broadcasters like Arte.
Some programmes are translated into other European languages, with funding support from the European Union (English, Spanish, Polish, and Italian).
For more detailed information on the funding mechanisms, see the following link: https://www.arte.tv/sites/corporate/en/funding/
Thanks to the French
and German
taxpayers!
Danke, merci !
